Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes will be offered new deals by Manchester United for next season. Welsh wizard Giggs, 36, and former England star Scholes, 35, are both out of contract next summer. But United boss Alex Ferguson said: “Every player who gets into his 30s starts to wonder what’s going to happen. ”We will certainly be offering Ryan a new contract for next season, when he’ll be 37 ”That is what we think of him, he has been amazingly consistent. ”And when you consider Paul’s performance at West Ham, and at Wolfsburg in midweek, there is no reason to think he can’t do it again next season as well. ”He may feel he should play in every game but, of course, he can’t. ”The best way to see Paul Scholes playing like he did on Wednesday night is to gauge the games in which we think he will dominate. ”We will be offering him a contract – and he knows that.” Young striker Danny Welbeck, 19, yesterday extended his United contract to 2013.

Manchester United have today confirmed that young striker Danny Welbeck has signed a new contract that should see him stay at Old Trafford until June 2013. United boss Sir Ales Ferguson was pleased to see the highly-rated youngster extend his stay. ”We are delighted. We see Danny as one of the great young players who has emerged from the academy,” the Scot told the club’s official website. ”He will have a terrific career and we are glad that he has placed his trust in us with his future.” Welbeck,19, was delighted to be given the opportunity to further develop his career at the club and looked forward to learning much more during his time at Old Trarfford. ”I am really happy, there was never a doubt that this is where I want to be,” he said. ”I am enjoying every minute and learning so much from all the great players that are here. I would like to thank Sir Alex, the club and the fans for all their support.”
Welbeck was born and raised in Manchester. He has made 20 senior appearances for the club so far, scoring five goals.

Match Day, eh? Well actually tomorrow is match day. Man Utd who are currently 2nd place in the barclays premier league table face a tough test agains’t Martin O’neils Aston Villa who are currently 5th place with 26 points out of 15 game. Van Der Sar, and Vidic set to return. John O’shea has a thigh injury and is expected to be back in January.  Wes Brown, and Wayne Rooney are both doubtful because of a hamstring injury. Johny Evans has a calf injury and is expected to return in January. Gary Neville has a groin injury which he got during West Ham. Rio Ferdinand has also got a calf injury and is expected back this month. The Da Silva twins are both injured. With Fabio who has injured his knee and is doubtful. His other brother, Rafael has got a shoulder injury, he is also doubtful. Owen Hargreaves and Dimitar Berbatov has both got knee injuries. Berba is doubtful. But regarding Hargreaves. He is back in training after having an operation on both knees, so hopefully he will be back this month. While Aston Villa have Collins, Davies, and Bouma are all on the injury list. Foster has been tipped to join another Premier League club for the second half of the season in order to boost his prospects of claiming a place in England’s World Cup squad. Sunderland and Tottenham have been linked with the 26-year-old, who started the season as first choice while Edwin van der Sar was injured. However, during Van der Sar’s latest injury absence, Poland international Tomasz Kuszczak has been preferred between the posts by United boss Ferguson. It has led to suggestions that Ferguson is prepared to let Foster go out on loan in January, but the Red Devils chief has no plans to sanction a move. ”Nothing is going to happen with Ben,” said Ferguson. “He is here and this is where he stays.

Reports had linked the former England international with a move to Old Trafford this week. He has been training with Arsenal in a bid to stay fit after his ill-fated move to Notts County ended after a solitary game. However, Ferguson gave every indication that he hoped that his injury problems in defence would have eased sufficiently in January for him not to need to dip into the transfer market. ”I don’t know where this came from, but it is all wrong,” said Ferguson. ”Sol Campbell was a great player, but he is not a player we are thinking about getting to come to United. ”Jonny Evans could be back in 10 days and John O’Shea will be with us in January. ”We are having a hard time with centre-backs at this moment in time but I am sure by January most of them will be back.” He did imply that the funds were there for him to spend after Christmas should he need to, though also indicated that it was unlikely he would do so. ”It has been said I do not have the money,” he added. ”But the money is there if I wanted to use it. ”I didn’t see any value in the summer and I don’t see any value at the moment either. ”I am happy with the players I already have at the club.”

The Manchester United keeper, 39, is under contract until the end of the season after signing an extension last year. It was widely expected the current campaign would be his last as he made way for Tomasz Kuszczak or Ben Foster. United have also been linked with a move for Schalke keeper Manuel Neuer. Yet Van der Sar has told pals that he feels he would still be able to compete for the first-team slot at United and is seriously considering staying for another season. United manager Alex Ferguson has insisted he will give the Dutchman as long as possible to make up his mind after last term’s heroics. UEFA voted Van der Sar Europe’s top keeper in 2009 as he helped United to the Premier League title and another Champions League final. He also went a world-record 1,311 minutes without conceding a goal. He is Holland’s most capped player, with 130 appearances, and came out of international retirement to help them reach the World Cup finals.

Sol Campbell has said he would love to move to United.

Campbell said: “I have heard nothing officially but there have been suggestions and it would be a great move for me. ”I would love to play for Manchester United, but I am not counting any chickens. I shall just have to wait and see if a call comes through the right channels. ”I am training as usual at Arsenal, and would go to train at Manchester United if I was asked.” Campbell can resume his playing career after ending his contract dispute with Notts County.The former Spurs and Arsenal centre-back signed a five-year deal with the League Two club last summer but quit after playing just one game. Arsene Wenger allowed Campbell to train with the Gunners to keep himself fit before he was eligible to play again. Ferguson’s injury problems saw him play midfielders Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick in defence in Tuesday’s 3-1 Champions League win over Wolfsburg. John O’Shea and Jonny Evans are both out until the New Year and Rio Ferdinand’s back problem will keep him sidelined until at least the middle of next month.
